Treatment Educator James Learned, with 15 years experience developing and treating HIV/AIDS treatment education for PLWHIV and service providers, is the host for AIDSmeds' premiere webtorial, "Focus on CD4 Cells."

This unique online video and PowerPoint presentation was developed specifically for HIV/AIDS service providers. The webtorial is an educational program aimed helping you understand the value and significance of CD4s in terms of managing HIV today. The objectives are:

  • Reviews role of CD4 cells and HIV disease progression
  • Discuss changes in thinking about importance of CD4 cell counts as a guide to starting treatment
  • Share new information on importance of strong CD4 cell response to HIV treatment to prevent disease progression

Innovative Video Captures Cell-to-Cell HIV Transfer

By creating a molecular clone of infectious HIV and inserting a special gene into its genetic code, scientists were able to film how the virus spreads directly from infected CD4 cells to uninfected ones.

Friends For Life to Expand Housing Services

Friends For Life will expand the Aloysius Home Housing Services division through the construction of a new housing facility, Aloysius New Beginnings. The $1.2 million facility is planned to be built on the empty lot adjacent to the former Aloysius Home building. The 10-unit single room occupancy facility will provide permanent supportive housing to 10 chronically homeless adults living with HIV/AIDS and co-occurring disorders.
